Most of us would love to lose some fat. The problem is, a majority of us, don’t have as much muscle as we’d like so when we are able to lose that fat, we have a skinny frame underneath that may be undesirable. What people would really like to do is to burn fat build muscle at the same time. However, there are lots of fitness enthusiasts out there who say that this is simply impossible. Not only that, but many of the people who do feel that it is possible feel that it is an extremely inefficient way to go about reaching your fitness goals. Well as you read the following article, you’ll find that both groups of people are wrong. It is in fact possible to gain significant lean muscle while burning fat away quickly. Read on and learn how.
Burn Fat Build Muscle: Misconceptions
We should first talk about the common misconception that you either have to choose to gain lean muscle mass, or focus your efforts on burning fat. Proponents of this strategy enact what are called “bulking” and “cutting” phases into their workout. During a bulking phase, all of your focus is geared towards gaining as much muscle as possible. Your workouts revolve primarily around strength training and you are actually taught not to perform any cardio during this phase. You are also encouraged to eat as many healthy and “clean” calories as possible to help give your body the nutrients it needs to create more muscle. I do want to mention that this phase is different for men and women. Women do not have the testosterone to created big, bulky muscles, so don’t be intimidated by the words, “bulking phase.” It just doesn’t work like that.
Those who are in the cutting phase, put extra emphasis on cardiovascular exercises. Often times hours are spent on the treadmill so that you’ll be able to burn as many calories as possible, helping your body get rid of as much fat as possible. Strength training is still a part of most cutting programs, however there isn’t as much emphasis on it as cardio. You are also forced to work at a calorie deficit while you are cutting. This means that each day, you are supposed to consume less calories than your body burns. This will help ensure that you are losing weight (ideally in the form of fat).
Burn Fat Build Muscle: The Workout
While many people have used the strategy outlined above successfully, it doesn’t mean that you can’t reach both goals at the same time. In recent years, more and more people have adopted strategies that help them burn fat build muscle in the same workout. As with all fitness routines, this boils down to your diet, and your workout. We’ll first discuss the workout. There is no question that if you want to build muscle, you have to dedicate a portion of your workouts to strength training. No one disputes this fact, however, there are those people that believe that when you are building muscle, any efforts you expend in cardiovascular exercises, compromises any gains you make.
This simply isn’t true. The fact of the matter is, if you want to gain muscle and burn fat at the same time, you are going to have to do both types of exercises. Using a program like Chalean Extreme combines both strength training and cardio conditioning for a great burn fat build muscle program.
In the past it was believed that long durations of slow and steady cardio was the best way to burn fat. It is true that this is the most efficient way to burn fat calories while you workout, but it truly is WHILE you workout. A new form of training that has quickly gained popularity in recent years is HIIT or high intensity interval training. HIIT is basically a form of cardio where you put maximum effort for a short period of time, followed by a period of rest. The cycle is then repeated over and over for a set number of intervals. Typically, HIIT sessions are much shorter than a steady state cardio workout, however they are much more intense. The end result is that your body actually burns more calories for up to 24 hours after you have finished your workout. It is a vital part of any training regimen in which fat loss and muscle building is the ultimate goal. A great workout that is built around HIIT is the Turbo Fire program from Beachbody. It incorporates everything you need to build muscle and burn fat at the same time.
Burn Fat Build Muscle: The Food
You now want to think about food when you want to burn fat build muscle. Remember, 70% of your results come from healthy eating and fueling your body right. Eating less processed carbs will help promote fat loss while ensuring you get enough lean protein will encourage muscle growth. Fueling your body with the most pure, nutrient dense superfood product like, Shakeology. Adding this to your daily eating is ideal for your burn fat build muscle plan.
It is entirely possible to gain muscle and burn fat at the same time. Using the powerful combination weight training, high intensity workouts and clean eating will have you reaching your fitness goals quickly!
