You have gone and reset your body with the Ultimate Reset. You found that your body responds very well to a plant-based diet and want to continue to eat that way. Along comes a body building workout program, like Body Beast, requiring a good deal amount of protein throughout the program. Especially in the last phase where half of the calories are to come from protein.
Here are 5 vegan protein options for muscle building when you want to avoid meat, dairy and whey:
- Non-GMO Tofu: It absorbs flavors that it is mixed with. Put it into your stir-fry, blend in a Shakeology smoothie to make it creamier. Slice it, marinated, and grill it. Make cheesecake, and more. Only buy soy products that have been certified organic. One half-cup serving of raw firm tofu contains 10 grams of protein.
- Tempeh: has a consistency very similar to a very firm veggie burger. It’s another soy product, but it is made from fermented, whole soybeans and is less processed than tofu. One half-cup serving contains 8 grams of protein.
- Almonds and Almond Butter: 1/4 a cup of nuts can have about 8 or more grams of protein. Choose unsalted nuts. Put them into salads or soak them and blend them into other recipes. Almond butter is a great choices to get protein in your eating! Use it in Shakeology and snacks. Almond Butter has about 6 – 8 grams of protein.
- Quinoa: 1 cup contains 8 grams of high-quality protein. Quinoa contains all 9 essential amino acids, making it a complete protein. Be sure to read the package to prepare it correctly as you need to rinse the seeds prior to cooking.
- Oatmeal: While this might not seem like the most obvious protein choice, oatmeal does have 6 – 7 grams of protein in a cup.
I know there are other sources of vegan protein out there, but this should give you some good options, especially if you have experienced Ultimate Reset and want to continue on a plant-based eating plan. These vegan protein sources are good even if you choose a vegetarian or flexitarian diet!
