When it comes to achieving your health and fitness goals 70% of your success has to do with eating right and come nutrition.
You may have experienced it before where you exercise a lot and have very little results to show for it. I coach many people who are frustrated with their results, until we discuss their eating habits and daily diet.
Healthy Food Plan Conversation
A lot of conversations I have are something like this:
Exerciser: Oh, I have a pretty healthy food plan. I usually eat vegetables, fruits, chicken breast and stuff like that.
Me: That’s outstanding! Tell me more. Tell me what you had yesterday.
Exerciser: Um, well. Yesterday wasn’t so healthy. I, uh, well, started with oatmeal for breakfast. The brown sugar and cinnamon kind. Then I had a muffin and Cinnamon Dolce Latte (my favorite) at Starbucks. For lunch I went out for Chinese with coworkers.. I had the buffet… I don’t remember all I ate. I felt stuffed and sleepy all afternoon. I stopped for a beer with my friends after work and then just stopped by Wendys on the way home for chili and a side salad. I know. Not my best day for food. I started out healthy with Oatmeal, right?
Me: I see. You are right. Not the most healthy. You have some work to do if you want results.
While I didn’t add up this person’s calories, I would guesstimate well over 3000 calories and very few with nutritional benefits.
This is a time for education on what a healthy food plan contains. A time for a reality check. A time for this person to decide what they really want.
My Healthy Food Plan Solution
My first recommendation for this person is to complete the Ultimate Reset program. It’s only 21 days the they will learn how to eat. They will learn how good they can feel from eating amazing great-tasting foods and recipes. This is probably the most comprehensive healthy food plan that gets results in such a short time. You learn incredible habits that set yourself up for success.
The other things I recommend are to follow the eating guide that came with their fitness program or to create their own customized meal plan through Team Beachbody. Both work very well. The online healthy food plan takes into account height, weight, age, fitness program and goals and it will generate 4 different plans that you can tweak along the way. It also includes printable grocery lists!
Healthy Food Plan Tools
There are also some great free tools out there that can be used on a smartphone. My Fitness Pal to track calorie intake and monitor the 3 macronutrients of fats, proteins and carbs. My Fitness Pal also has a web site that can be used at www.myfitnesspal.com.
The other tool is called Fooducate. With Fooducate you can scan the foods at the grocery store and get a rating on how good they are for you. It will even even tell you if it has any GMO (which should not be a part of a healthy food plan) and will recommend safe alternatives.
Healthy Food Plan: You Choose
If eating right is 70% of the fitness success equation, then a person needs to set themselves up for success by having a plan, choosing the right foods, and instilling good habits. A person gets the ultimate kickstart with Ultimate Reset. When people finally have habits and routines down for their healthy food plan, then they can make other choices on occasion that may deviate from the plan. Still, most of the time you need to follow the plan if you want to achieve and maintain results.
