I am often asked about the equipment needed for Hammer and Chisel. You see, I was recently in The Master’s Hammer and Chisel Coach Test Group and had awesome results! You are going to sculpt your body with this one! I hope you are excited!
The Master’s Hammer & Chisel is a Beachbody weight training program with TWO TRAINERS! Celebrity trainer, Autumn Calabrese is the creator of 21 Day Fix and 21 Day Fix Extreme. Celebrity trainer, Sagi Kalev is the creator of Body Beast. The program is released December 1, 2015 and also has two sneak peek workouts through Beachbody on Demand. A great way for people to try the workouts for free with a 30 day free access pass.
Equipment Needed For Hammer And Chisel
The equipment needed for Hammer & Chisel is from my experience. There are options and alternatives, of course and I will add those below. Here is a video going over what I used for this program.
Equipment needed for Hammer and Chisel:
- Weights – such as dumbbells, Select Techs, Power Blocks (no barbell required)
- Women will typically range from 5-40 pounds
- Men will typically range from 10-75 pounds
- Weight Bench or a Stability Ball
- Resistance Band (used in the warm up & a few other moves)
- Pull Up Bar or a Resistance Band with Door Attachment
- Tracking App (or Pen & Paper) I used my iPad with a Text app
- Water Bottle
- Towel
Optional equipment needed for Hammer and Chisel:
- Mat
- Pull Up Assist (or chair)
- Push Up Stands/Power Stands
- Weight Gloves
- Beachbody Performance (I used all of them to and saved a bit of $ by bundling with Ultimate Stack)
- Team Beachbody Club for On Demand Streaming (perfect for mobile devices and laptops)
- Determination
My take about the equipment needed for Hammer and Chisel
I often get questions if all of these things are necessary. I get it. Adding these thing up can be pricey.
When I did my first Beachbody program (Power 90) back in the day, I just used one resistance band and a set of 20 pound dumbbells. But the game has changed on this program. When it comes to equipment, you don’t want to cut corners, especially from a safety standpoint.
Still, use online reviews when you go shopping for things like a bench, pull up bar, stability ball, etc.
So what can you “get by” with on a budget and still get great results?
- Stability Ball
- Resistance Bands
- Door Attachment (for pull ups)
- Stability Ball
I would shop on Amazon for reviews and then check out Play It Again Sports or Craig’s List for used equipment. You might find deals at Walmart, Dick’s Sporting Goods, or Sports Authority for deals.
Or, borrow from someone you know who isn’t using their equipment!
If you can swing it, go for the Bench and adjustable weights (they take up little space).

Is this better than x3?
If I had to choose between the two which do you recommend?
Please shoot me an e-mail response.
Thanks!

Hi John! Just saw your comment, LOL
I’m sure you already discovered yourself, but I do have to say, I got incredible results from Hammer & Chisel. I did 7 rounds.
I love X3 too as I always resonate with Tony! What program are you doing these days?
