Here’s my Body Beast TEMPO Back and Biceps Review. As I headed into the final phase of Body Beast I noticed some days you get a choice of which workout program you want to do. So, when it came to a back and bicep workout, I chose one of the disks from the tempo collection.
First of all, I found this workout to be the toughest one so far. And that’s saying something when you really push your limits with all of this weight lifting. The workout is about 48 minutes long and goes through a series of 5 TEMPO single set combinations followed by an ab/core exercise. This gives you a nice break in between each insane set!
TEMPO refers to the pace in which you do the exercises. So, you select one weight and do 15 reps at a pace of 6 seconds down (eccentric) and 6 seconds up. Then move to a heavier weight doing 6 seconds down and 3 seconds up for 12 reps. The last move goes up the an even heavier weight for 8 reps at a pace of 3 seconds down and 3 seconds up.
The workout starts with a dumbbell pullover followed by a wide plank in & out. One of the killer moves that was super hard was the wide front pullup. I found myself using the pull up assist rather quickly in the sequence. Slow pull ups are hard! This move was followed by hanging circle (an ab move where you hang from a pull up bar). Next comes a reverse bent-over row with the EZ Curl bar. That heart pumping move is followed by a lat oblique twist. A dumbbell preacher curl where you hang your arm over the back of a bench. That move is followed by hanging curl (another ab move hanging from a pull up bar). The last move is the all-angle bicep with EZ Curl bar. This move varies the grip on the EZ bar on each set of reps. The last ab move is the speed mountain climber.
Overview of Body Beast TEMPO Back and Biceps
I loved Body Beast TEMPO Back and Biceps. I used my towel for the sweat and the tears as I was crying! Arms were burning and screaming! As I said before, the pull ups were just hard because of the pace, but well worth it! The hanging ab moves really test you at this doing in the Body Beast program. Preacher curls had me wanting to take breaks, but I kept pushing through my limits. Doing a the variety of grips with the EZ Curl bar really challenged the biceps.
Following the workout I was quick to chug down a Results and Recovery Formula drink. Instant fuel back into the muscles!
My review: The most challenging Body Beast workout to date and I give it an A+!
