I love a good grilled burger. So, I’m always looking for options that are great tasting and good for the waistline, especially when fueling the body for P90X, Insanity and Insanity Asylum!
In recent years I have been using ground buffalo/bison and ground turkey in various recipes. A few years back I discovered a burger recipe on AllRecipes.com that I tried out of curiosity. What I discovered was something versatile that I could tweak and use with meats like ground buffalo/bison and ground turkey instead of beef. Whenever I grill these patties up, the response in this house is usually, “Why can’t we have these every night?” We love these burgers and rarely are there leftovers. The flavor just pops. I’m sure there are ways to enhance them even further with perhaps onions, peppers, or even tart apples. But to tell you the truth, the first time I tried this recipe, I was hooked just the way they were! I like the nutritional values too!

Buffalo/Turkey Burger Recipe … This is a tweaked recipe of Chris’ Bay Area Burgers from AllRecipes. What I love about the recipe is that it doesn’t require chopping up any ingredients so putting them together is really fast!
- 1 pound ground buffalo/bison or turkey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoons sea salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
Grill ’em up! Tasty! I don’t typically have a bun, but you can use one of those whole grain 100 calorie sandwich thins (thin buns).
