Daily Gratitude – Make Thanksgiving An Every Day Habit
Today is a holiday and reminder of daily gratitude and appreciation for all things in life. Especially family and friends. Today is Thanksgiving. Actually every day is Thanksgiving. We just officially recognize it as a holiday here in the United States in November.
A special vibe is in the air during this special holiday. How do you capture that feeling of daily gratitude? I mean each and every day?
Daily Gratitude – Here’s How
Let’s looks at developing an attitude of thankfulness and daily gratitude to make Thanksgiving an every day habit.
Start your daily gratitude with 5-10 minutes just to appreciate where you are. Appreciate what is already good in your life. That will bring more good things to you. No matter the situation find one or two small things to appreciate. Be thankful for the victories as well as the setbacks. Each one happens for a reason to make you better.
You can do this simple morning ritual through visual imagery, just sitting and whispering them out loud, or, like me, jot them down in a daily journal.
Possessing a daily gratitude and appreciation mindset allows you to celebrate the small things and truly attract the good things in life. Practice daily gratitude for the next 5 days or so and write down what shows up each day. Write down at least five things that you’re grateful for or that you appreciate. It’s pretty amazing how you start to create a never-ending list!
Take time to honor the gifts, talents, skills, family, friends and opportunities you’ve been given. Be thankful for the little things. Take the time to give attention to expect more good things to come your way.
Celebrate life. Give thanks. Appreciate those around you. Lift them up.
Make daily gratitude a conscious effort to thank as many people as you can each day. It can be for anything. Big or small.
Daily Gratitude – Try This Activity
Try the following activity. Do this at your Thanksgiving celebration or during any gathering over the holiday season. Take notice of how you feel and, more importantly, how you make them feel and how they respond to you in the future. Once you discover the power of this activity, daily gratitude will no doubt be something you will want to practice over and over.
Daily Gratitude in Motion (Do at your holiday gathering)
Directions:
1. Put each person’s name on a slip of paper who is at your gathering
2. Have each person randomly draw a name
3. On a sheet of paper take time to write what you’re thankful for about that person or what makes that person special to you, and WHY.
4. Gather round the table later in the evening and each person take a turn sharing who you chose and what you wrote. Speak directly to that person.
It’s pretty amazing the impact this activity makes and the vibe that is felt in the room. There will be smiles, tears, and laughter!
Have fun with your daily gratitude and watch your life transform in many ways.
Happy Holidays!
