Massage Anywhere with the Rumble Roller
You can get a massage anywhere with the Rumble Roller. One of the side effects of any workout program is muscle soreness, tightness, and knots. So often this is a reason people never start a fitness program or they end up quitting because the soreness is uncomfortable. Now there’s a tool that not only helps undo those knots and trigger points, but it will also help you move faster, be more limber and perform better. Enter the Rumble Roller to get a massage anywhere. You need this tool as a part of your workout arsenal.
Massage Anywhere – What Is This Rumble Roller Anyway?
The Rumble Roller is a foam roller with knobby bumps as opposed to the smooth traditional foam roller. Foam rolling has been part of the therapy practices of physical therapists as well as athletes. People use the rumble roller to release those knots and trigger points in the muscles. Those are those things that often hold back people from being more mobile and limber than what they typically should be. It’s like having a masseuse with you to give you a massage anywhere. Except you aren’t paying massage therapist prices!
Because of the Rumble Roller’s uneven, raised nodules, it works like a deep tissue massage to get even deeper into the muscle tissue than ordinary rollers do. This is called self-myofascial release. A fancy term for an intense form of sports massage. When used regularly it helps reduce muscle and joint pain. This means better mobility.
The Rumble Roller is included in the P90X2 fitness program. There is a special workout within that program called X2 Recovery and Mobility. Tony Horton, the trainer, takes you through using the Rumble Roller every step of the way. You roll over the rumble roller and literally knead the muscle and soft tissue in your body in various directions. You release these “hot spots” as you go and relieve yourself of these tension creators. That will bring relief to muscle pain and soreness. That will bring you flexibility and better mobility!
Even David Beckham, soccer professional, now spends much of his post workout with the Rumble Roller to get a massage anywhere. According to a Men’s Health article, Beckham focuses on soft-tissue work for five to 10 minutes to get a massage anywhere by foam rolling to make sure he’s not stiff or sore the next day. It’s part of his routine to do a balance of exercise with his running, stretching and flexibility routines. It keeps him healthy all season long.
Massage Anywhere – What is Myofascial Release?
Myofascial release has become very popular in the therapeutic arena as an effective form of therapy for healthcare. It’s very safe to do with the Rumble Roller to get a massage anywhere by applying gentle pressure into the myofascial connective tissue. This massage technique stretches the fascia and releases its bond with muscles and bones to increase range of motion and balance the body. That’s why it’s important to do regularly!
Fascia is connective tissue that surrounds muscles, groups of muscles, and nerves bind some of those structures together, while permitting others to slide smoothly over each other. Fascia is some sort of connective tissue that creates a seamless web to cover and connect muscles, organs, and bones in the body. Stress for exercise, inflammation, and even poor posture creates fascia restrictions. This restriction creates tightness, knots and hot spots. Myofascial release literally releases the fascia and restores the tissue back to health. This helps eliminate pain and restores motion and mobility.
The beauty of using the Rumble Roller for this kind of therapy is that you can do it yourself and don’t have to pay the high fees of doctors and therapists to provide the same benefit.

Massage Anywhere – My experience with the Rumble Roller
To tell you the truth I was hesitant to get the Rumble Roller. It was one of the options when I bought P90X2. Still, something compelled me to buy this “foam cactus roller!” Foam rolling is built into every warm up and cool down n P90X2, so I got to experience it right out of the gate.
The first “hot spot” I came across was in my calves and oh my gosh, I felt it. I wanted to quickly gloss over the pain and move to a more comfortable spot. Still, that would defeat the purpose of the “release.” So I stuck it out. Eventually the muscle or tension would release and feel better. Just like when you get a massage. It temporarily hurts and then it feels better.
What I discovered over the many weeks is the I became more mobile and less restricted in my exercise. I felt better too.
When I did the workout program, Tai Cheng, using a Rumble Roller was part of the warm up called Neural Reboot to help waken the body and prepare for the workout. Using the Rumble Roller helped with strength, balance and flexibility
I still use it as a part of my weekly stretch routine as well as recovery for programs like Les Mills Pump, Insanity, Asylum and of course P90X.
It is so worth it to have this piece of equipment in your exercise toolkit. There are a few different sizes of the Rumble Roller so you can even travel with it. I mean, you get to have a massage anywhere. Save money by not having to hire a massage therapist!
