I used to avoid exercise simply because I wasn’t “good” at it, and just thinking about it made me feel self-conscious and anxious. I was afraid I was going to do it wrong and hurt myself; I was afraid to look like an idiot in front of my friends; I was afraid of failing, so I avoided failure by not trying in the first place.
