What are the best tips to stay on a weight-loss plan?
The question, “What are the best tips to stay on a weight-loss plan?” is often asked by the people I coach. You see, losing the weight isn’t that tough when you have the right tools and the right plan. And when it comes to weight, it’s good to keep in mind that the scale isn’t necessarily the best indicator of health. A tape measure is a much better tool for measuring. If men can keep their waistline below 35 and women can shoot for less than 33, then that should mean the belly fat is at a minimum. When it comes to losing weight, strive for no more than a pound a week. That way you’re more likely to maintain the weight loss as opposed to yo-yo weight gains/losses.
What are the best tips to stay on a weight-loss plan? Follow these:
- Exercise daily and just make it a lifestyle! It can be as simple as walking 10,000 steps a day. That’s about 5 miles. Track it with a simple pedometer. Or choosing one of our amazing at home workout programs so you can avoid gym membership fees.
- Weed out the junk and stock only healthy options in the house. See my articles on Kitchen Makeover to help you fill your pantry and refrigerator with good food!
- Control your appetite with frequent eating that consists of 3 main meals (INCLUDING BREAKFAST!) along with 2 smaller snacks in between. This will keep your metabolism constantly burning calories and not going into starvation mode and then store calories as fat. I start my day every day with Shakeology because it not only fills me up, but has so many incredible super foods that it will have you feeling amazing and burning calories throughout the day. I have heard that people who actually eat the same types of meals each day (as opposed to constant variety) lose more weight. I don’t have data to back that up.. just what I read/heard somewhere. Fill up on veggies, fruits, nuts, and lean proteins like wild caught fish and organic free-range vegetarian fed poultry. The list might include apples, almonds, walnuts, and chopped veggies.
- Hydrate all day long with WATER!! Always shoot for half your body weight in ounces.
- Watch the amount of food you eat, even the healthy stuff. Portion size does matter! If you eat out at a restaurant, have them box half of it up right away.
- Document and record what you eat using a tool like FitDay.com or Myfitnesspal.com
- Get support! Friends, family members, buddies in our online accountability groups all help! Get a coach like me! I will help coach you for free! This provides a level of encouragement and accountability.
- Get enough sleep! Strive for at least 7 hours but no more than 9.
What are the best tips to stay on a weight-loss plan? Well, practice the steps above and you’ll keep yourself lean!
