Healthy Fast Food – You Do Have Choices
Healthy Fast Food – You do have choices. Lots of choices. Healthy fast food is actually fairly easy if you know what to look for and you don’t give into temptations and add-ons. Let’s face it, when we put the the words health fast food together, we typically conjure up cardboard, bland tasting foods to eat while the restaurant and people around you are gorging themselves with delicious smelling foods. But you and I both know that while the food they are eating may smell incredible, it is not healthy fast food. It is really fat food. Foods that are filled with high saturated fats, sodium, sugars, poor quality, and empty calories. So, what can you do to have healthy fast food when you are out and about or traveling? Here are a few tips for healthy fast food depending on your situation.
Healthy Fast Food – Planning Ahead
If you already know that you will not have healthy options wherever you are going, it is very smart to bring your own food. Pack a healthy lunch. Make a container of raw nuts with unsweetened dried fruit. Make a healthy protein shake in a blender before time and put it in a thermos.
Healthy Fast Food – Strategize On The Road
While it is easy to give in to choosing what is most convenient at the moment, take a step back and look at the options. It’s the convenience and poor choices that has taken then country into a tailspin of obesity. This is not you! You need to look at all of your options and really decide what is the healthiest choice for restaurant and foods you are going to eat. Many convenience stores at gas stations have raw nuts and healthy protein bars. I know.. it’s not McDonalds french fries, but you will feel better and healthier!
If you do have to go to a restaurant, choose ones with decent food options that will allow you to customize. Perhaps one with a salad. Get the lowest calorie dressing on the side. Skip the croutons. Try to get a sandwich or skinless chicken pattie without the bun. Skip the side orders and sauces. Skip the soup too… those are sodium bombs! Order water.
We are fortunate to had a My Fit Foods in the city where we live, but it is not an international chain …yet. So, keep your eyes peeled for healthy restaurant options.
Healthy Fast Food – Be Picky When You Order
Restaurants want you to come back. They want you to tell their friends to go there. So they will go out of their way to make food your way. It may take more time, but that’s OK. You are worth it. Tell them how much you appreciate the attention to detail and how it’s important for you to eat healthy because you are doing P90X or Insanity. Heck, you may inspire someone else to start living a healthy lifestyle!
Find a restaurant that is not the typical fast food joint. Scan the menu, be selective and picky such as: steamed vegetables, fresh salsa, fruit cup, brown rich, not sodium, oils or butters, grilled meats, etc. Also, order to go.
Healthy Fast Food – Make It Super Fast, Super Easy and Super Healthy
Carry a Blender Bottle along with single packets of Shakeology. Not only will this be the healthy fast food, it will be the healthiest fast food you can have! And the cheapest! It is so convenient and easy to find bottled cold water to add to one Shakeology packet into the Blender Bottle. Shake it, drink it and bam. Fast! Plus it’s a complete meal replacement, so you will be full, satisfied and feel amazing!
My favorite Shakeology travel pack is Chocolate Shakeology, Starbucks VIA Decaf, Blender Bottle and then I get a water later. I do this whether I am on the road, or when I fly somewhere. This helps me stay on track and have a great option when other selections look absolutely awful!
Healthy Fast Food – Take Action
You are not the victim of circumstance. You have options. You can make good choices. There are many things you can do to make convenient food healthy and not expand your waistline or drain your wallet.
