What Are Your Top 3 Reasons To Workout?
Today I turned 51. And I am so happy about it. Seriously. I know many people dread birthdays. I guess I used to as well. Felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere in life. Living paycheck to paycheck and dealing with aches and pains of aging, getting fatter, losing energy. Resigned to “that’s the way it is.”
But ever since that crazy impulsive morning when I skeptically decided to order some infomercial workout, things have never been the same! Every day I strive to become a little better than the day before. And it adds up over time. Yes, there are times when I slip a bit. But always strive to move forward.
So, I began to wonder. What makes a person decide and commit to exercising most every day? Sure, we can Google all the benefits and reasons that someone should stay in shape. But I wanted to see what the people I have been coaching would say. Here is what I found out!

Top Reasons To Workout
- To stay healthy
- Makes me feel good
- To be an example to others that think they cant know …if I did…they CAN!
I have been in a regular routine for about 5 years…after I lost a little weight (60 lbs!) and realized how important my health is…and how out of control it was.
I LOVE P90X (any of the versions- I love weight lifting) and insanity was…well..insane 🙂
I love to ride bikes, play tennis and of course chase my grand kids around 🙂

Top Reasons To Workout
Why do I workout? that’s a good question, I guess its good that you’re asking so that I can also remind myself, since I’m getting ready to start a “beastly” routine! lol
- First and foremost, to keep off my lost weight, since I have noticed that the battle of fitness and heath is constant and never ends, especially in the temptation-laden world we live in.
- To hopefully be an example one day for my sisters and others.
- To feel good about myself, whether its from the tons of energy in the morning from a good routine or just the overall endorphins.
I started exercising consistently (used loosely) I would say about 2010 but not really sticking wholly to a 90 day program, just trying to do many different things to stay engaged.
I have enjoyed P90X and Body Beast but I also lift at the Gym with college friends and co-workers and run HIIT on a treadmill and jog outside every now and then. Overall I try to do something 5 days a week.

Top Reasons To Workout
- No better way to start my day with energy and an endorphin burst
- It is way easier to maintain a daily routine than try to go in waves – so staying consistent is crucial to me
- I believe exercise for the body is exercise for the heart, skin, brain, etc., so for me it’s like my self insurance for my later years.
- I’ve heard from many friends it is very difficult to make it a daily routine when you start in your later years, so I enjoy building the habit while on the younger side.
I first began exercising on a regular basis in early 2010. It took about 2 years of hit and miss exercise before I realized the importance of showing up each day.
My top programs have hands down been P90X2 and P90X3!
Additional exercises for me consists of racquetball a few days per week and good ol running once/twice per week.

- I started exercising in high school on a regular routine slowed down during my teaching years noticed a significant decline and started a daily routine.
Top Beach Body programs P90x and 10 minute trainer. I also had fun training my students Hip Hop Abs.
I also Spin 3 to 4 time a week and lift 3 to 4 time a week and kayak. I also have a landscaping business.
